Introduction

Bitline 2D Mode Solver is a set of software that helps users to design and analyze some common two-dimension optical waveguide problems. The software is based on analytical solutions of the mode profile of the waveguide. It is an efficient and low-cost tool.

Features

  • Bitline 2D Mode Solver calculates the mode profile of optical rib waveguide and optical rectangular waveguide.
  • It uses the analytical results from the effective index method (EIM) and Marcatili method (MM) respectively.
  • Users define the indices of all regions of the waveguide.
  • Users define the dimentions of the waveguide and the wavelength of the optical field.
  • The mode solver calculates the number of modes permitted in the waveguide with two polarizations: Ex(Hy) and Ey(Hx).
  • The mode solver calculates the effective index of each supported mode (with EIM).
  • 2D mode distribution is provided for electric, magnetic fields and intensity profiles.
  • 3D mesh mode profile is provided with zooming and rotation functions.
  • Mode distribution curves (X and Y distributions) are provided at any point of the mode field.
  • Data can be exported into text files for further processing.
